Why Yaeyama Chlorella?

Not all chlorella products are created equal, and here we'll explain why our chlorella is the best quality you can buy.

Firstly, it's important to note where the chlorella is produced. Chlorella needs, above all, plenty of sunshine, clean air and mineral-rich water to flourish.

Chlorella gets it's name from its extraordinarily high chlorophyll content. This is fundamental to the nutritional richness of chlorella as through the process of photosynthesis, chlorella quite literally turns sunlight into vitamins, minerals and proteins - all of the ingredients essential for life on earth.
It is of course no coincidence that all livings things ultimately depend on sunlight for their survival, be it directly through the consumption of vegetable matter produced by photosynthesis, or indirectly by eating creatures that do.

Yaeyama Chlorella is produced on the pristine sub-tropical island of Ishigaki in the far south of Japan. This location was specifically chosen, as it offers the year-round sunshine essential for optimal chlorella growth and nutritional quality. The idyllic volcanic island provides all of these elements in abundance as the slideshow here shows:

Is it Organic?

It is a complete nonsense to talk of a product cultivated in water as being organic as only soil can meaningfully be classified as such. It's unfortunate that some manufacturers and unscrupulous acreditation organisations choose to dupe consumers into paying a premium for products labelled organic, when the term is completely misapplied.

Perhaps such products might better be described as chemical-free, and if this is the meaning we are to take Yaeyama Chlorella has impecable credentials. Firstly, being grown on a pristine island, far from industry Yaeyama Chlorella is contaminant free. It is grown in mineral-rich spring water that is extremely pure. Lesser-quality products from Taiwan, China, Germany and Indonesia are best avoided as the quality of the surrounding environment cannot be guaranteed. This unfortunately is a particular concern with chlorella as it has a powerful natural capacity to bind to environmental toxins. This makes it excellent for detoxification of the body, but producers must ensure their product is free from contaminants during cultivation. Yaeyama Chlorella is tested free of heavy metals and toxins.

Cracked Cell

Chlorella has a tough fibrous cell-wall which needs to be broken down during processing to ensure bioavailability of its precious nutritional contents. Not all chlorella products are effectively processed in this way, that can mean digestibility is poor at around 35-40%. Yaeyama Chlorella has very high digestability as a result of our specialised cracked-cell processing system.

Yaeyama Chlorella is dried using a high-impact spray drying system - a technique to dry temperature sensitive foods, supplements and pharmaceuticals without impairing their delicate composition. The chlorella has its cell-wall ruptured by this process which makes it 85% digestable (certified), and nutritionally available to the body. The cracking of the cells in this way, rather than their pulverisation, means that the nutritious contents are not spilled. It is only once the chlorella enters the stomach that the nutrients are released, and get to work nourishing the body. This system delivers the maximum possible nutritional value and digestibility.

Packaging and Handling

Finally, an important note on how our chlorella is packed.

We are all familiar with what happens to an apple once it is cut open and left exposed, even for a short time to the air.

Oxidisation leads to the nutritional degradation of food. For this reason we have devised a packaging technique that removes 100% of the oxygen from the interior of the pack. We believe we are the only company that protects their chlorella in this way.

You can be sure then that our product reaches you in perfect condition, and delivers it's full nutritional value.

We take great care to ensure that our chlorella is of the highest quality and maximum nutritional benefit.

Do not accept any poor quality substitutes.
